Festival Overview
The 26th annual Maiden City Festival is set to bring the historic city of Londonderry to life from 3rd to 10th August (excluding Sunday 4th). This week-long celebration offers a diverse range of events for all ages, from historical re-enactments to live music and dance performances.
Historical Re-enactments
Siege Characters: Immerse yourself in the city's rich history as characters from the famous 1688-89 siege promenade the walls daily from 10am to 4:30pm.
The Siege Story: Discover the dramatic events of the siege through captivating performances in St Columb's Cathedral at 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm daily.
Music and Dance
The Skirl of the Pipes: Enjoy vibrant piping and dancing exhibitions on Grand Parade throughout the festival.
Tea Dances: Get ready to dance the afternoon away at the Memorial Hall from Monday 5th to Thursday 8th at 2pm.
Evening Entertainment
The Memorial Hall hosts a variety of evening events:
Monday 5th: Kids Night at 6pm
Tuesday 6th: "The Songs My Father Sang" at 8pm
Wednesday 7th: Crimson Players Reunion at 8pm
Thursday 8th: "Letters from The Siege" featuring William King Memorial Flute Band at 8pm
Additional Events
11th Night: A play staged as part of the Festival's Drama Summer School.
Traditional Quiz, Lectures, and Sports: Enjoy a variety of activities throughout the week, including an Oxford Bulls v ABOD Select match on Thursday 8th at 6pm.
Grand Finale
The festival culminates with the 335th Relief of Londonderry parade on Saturday 10th August.
