This accessibility statement applies to https://visitderry.com
This website is managed by Visit Derry. Visit Derry is committed to making our website and applications accessible to our users. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How Do We Do This?
Sign Live
Sign Live is a specialist state-of-the-art video service, sent to staff by fully qualified and registered (NRCPD/SASLI) BSL/English and ISL/Irish interpreters who are available on demand.
Receiving a call from SignVideo (VRS) for Customer Support Service
Deaf customers can now contact us via the SignVideo Directory App. This connects them to an interpreter from the SignVideo relay service who will interpret the call.
All Interpreters are NRCPD Qualified. As a further requirement all SignVideo Interpreters have a minimum of 3 years community practitioning experience. This gives them further breadth and depth with their Interpreting skills.
All Interpreters are bound to confidentiality and will not answer any questions or discuss anything regarding a conversation they have been interpreting with any other person.
Consistent page headings and titles
A consistent heading structure has been used so that page information is compatible with access technology.
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Visit Derry is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non Compliance with Accessibility Regulations
Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
We plan to add text alternatives for all images. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
We are continuing to work with accessibility experts to ensure that our website is as accessible possible to our users.
