About

Looking for Brigid in Derry
Photographs & Audio by Deirdre Brennan
Sound Edit by Barry Connolly

Deirdre Brennan created a photographic and audio project about women and children named Brigid (or its iterations) to commemorate the 1500 anniversary of St. Brigid's death in 2024. The purpose of this project was to celebrate women and children through the lens of Brigid, the goddess or saint.

Derry was a significant location for the project. Over the course of a few days, Deirdre took pictures of 32 women and children at The Playhouse.

Portraits of women and children ranging in age from 8 weeks to 108 will be displayed. Women who made significant contribution to the city will tell incredible histories.
