About
Join HERoNI archaeologist Bronagh Patricia Murray to explore our relationship with our four-legged friends as evidenced in the Irish archaeological record. This presentation will include discussion of some of the earliest records of domesticated dogs in the Irish archaeological record, and explore archaeological sites where canine remains have been discovered during excavations. There is a considerable body of myth and folklore surrounding dogs in ancient Ireland, and this presentation will be richly illustrated with examples of early medieval sculptures of hunt scenes and illuminated manuscripts.
This event will take place in the Main Room. Part of NI Science Festival 2025.
