About

Bí le Mary agus Joe McGuiggan fá choinne maidin bhríomhar de cheol agus damhsa, ag ceiliúradh agus ag comhroinnt damhsaí muirneacha Chluaintí, Cluain Maine. Tá cuimhní ceanúla ag Annie McGonigle, 94 bliana d'aois, ar lúcháir an damhsa, céimeanna bríomhair dhamhsa áitiúil seit na lansaithe, agus na foinn cheoil shíoraí bhuana a thugadh ceoltóirí áitiúla chun beatha.

Tá traidisiún saibhir damhsa céime le maíomh as ag Cluainteach, agus tá céimeanna cornphíopa ar an tsean-nós ba ghnáth lena deartháir Charlie a dhamhsa tugtha ar aghaidh ag Annie. In ómós do chion iontach Annie maidir le hoidhreacht an damhsa, tá cornphíopa speisialta cumtha ag Paul Harrigan a sheinnfear le linn an imeachta.

Ná caill an deis ar leith seo thú féin a thumadh isteach i dtraidisiúin chultúrtha bhríomhara an cheantair, na damhsaí a fhoghlaim agus sult a bhaint as na scéalta agus ceol atá á gcoinneáil go caoin leis na glúnta.

Join Mary and Joe McGuiggan for a lively morning of music and dance, celebrating and sharing the cherished dances of Cloontagh, Clonmany. Annie McGonigle, now 94 years young, fondly recalls the joy of dancing, the lively steps of the local Lancer set, and the timeless tunes brought to life by local musicians.

Cloontagh boasts a rich step dance tradition, with Annie herself passing down the sean-nós hornpipe steps once danced by her brother Charlie. To honour Annie's remarkable contribution to the dance heritage, Paul Harrigan has composed a special hornpipe tune that will be performed during the event.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant cultural traditions of the area, learn the dances, and enjoy the stories and music that have been treasured across generations.
