Four years after crashing onto our screens with unforgettable lines like, "I don't want to be an individual on my own," Derry Girls wrapped up its third and final series in 2022.

This Channel 4 TV sitcom became an unexpected global sensation after hitting Netflix (and even made it onto The Simpsons with their Dairy Girls ice-cream parlour, because why not?). It’s a riotous, award-winning comedy that never fails to make you laugh, cringe, and cry (usually in that order).

Written by Derry’s very own Lisa McGee and starring an all-star cast from the city, the show is set in 1990s Derry, where four teenage girls and one "wee English fella" try to survive their awkward teen years against the backdrop of The Troubles.

Derry gets a starring role too, with its historic 400-year-old city walls, the famous Bogside area, The Guildhall, and its iconic churches all making an appearance. While a lot has changed in Derry since the '90s, the one thing that hasn’t is the humour—and the warm welcome you get when you visit. Getting to Derry~Londonderry has never been easier! Did you know that we’re just a three hour drive from Dublin and a 90 minute drive from Belfast. You can also reach us via our airport, City of Derry Airport, which has direct access from London Heathrow, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham; as well as new routes from Edinburgh and Liverpool commencing Nov 2024. Or, fly to Belfast International Airport or Dublin Airport and hop on the Aircoach, which will take you directly into the city centre.
