Nestled in the Mid Ulster countryside and conveniently located 45 mins from Derry city, less than an hour from Belfast on the main A29 road just 35mins from the north coast. Friels is the perfect lunch, dinner or refreshment stop  Established in 1835 by the Mercers Company, this 5th generation Bar & Restaurant started as a doctor's dispensary.  

This authentic experience allows visitors to immerse themselves in 1840’s rural village life. Meet Dr Mooney and his wife Sarah in their home and learn about how they provided medical care to local tenants of the Mercers company in their wonderfully recreated surgery. Discover how, when and why the blight hit Ireland and particular Swatragh and the devasting effects its caused. Explore some of the heart wrenching decisions the people of Swatragh had to make during the famine. Taste, touch and smell in the freshly prepared famine soup in the soup kitchen

12 people max, 2 x Guided tours, Saturday 14th 10am and Sunday 15th 10am.
