Take a journey through time and discover the walled City as you embark on a magical Illuminated trail telling the story of a legenderry place that will capture both your heart and your imagination.
From its origins as an ancient settlement to today's vibrant cultural hub, our story will be brought to life with stunning installations that will light up some of the City's most iconic sites. using the latest digital technology, projection, sound and animation to weave a compelling tale of tragedy and triumph.

The 1.5km route can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace as you make your way through the 400 year old Walled City.

Six iconic locations form part of the spectacular piece of art over the two weekends of Illuminate - 17th - 20th and 24th – 27th February, from 6pm-9pm -  using a mix of audio-visual, digital media and outdoor projection to create a memorable experience for all the family.

Embark on the exploration of the city’s history and experience how the city was named, St Columba’s famous stories, such as healing people with diseases, expelling malignant spirits, subduing wild beasts, calming storms, and even returning the dead to life. Relive some of the scenes from the Siege Of Derry 1689 , learn of the city’s more recent history and how the city has been reimagined.

Locations include the 400 year old walls, the original Walled city gates, the iconic Guildhall and st. Columbs Cathedral.

While following the awe inspiring journey through the walled city follow an Illuminated Trail of Light which includes captivating displays created by local artists, a full programme of entertainment, performances, music, drama that will will re-imagine public spaces across the Walled city, showcasing the regions diverse arts and cultural offering.

Wheelchair and pram friendly, this fully accessible route is the perfect evening activity for all the family.
