With fertile countryside, passionate farmers and award-winning, enterprising producers, it is no surprise that Northern Ireland is a leader in food security research and traceability, with a global growing reputation for food safety.
It’s home to many centres of excellence undertaking industrially relevant research and channelling university expertise into the development of sophisticated products and processes.
At Queen's University Belfast, pioneering research is carried out at The Institute for Global Food Security, a centre which advises the UK and other governments on food safety. While over at UU’s Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE), they are working to understand the links between diet, human development and disease.
